Broad Street View from Liverpool Street of the
ex-North London Railway City terminus of the DC-electrified suburban lines
from Dalston Junction, Willesden Junction, Watford Junction (etc.), Richmond
and (until May 1944) the line from Poplar. Broad Street Goods station was closed
27th January 1969/ After the last services had been diverted for a
year into adjoining Liverpool St., Broad Street terminus and the lines from

Brondesbury View towards Dalston Junction and
Broad Street on Sunday, 19th February 1961. Although fourth-rail
electrified, the ex-North London Railway services from Richmond to Broad
Street via Willesden Junction and Dalston Junction used 3rd rail
stock. Besides being an electrified suburban
line, this still remains a major route for
cross-London freight. In the distance can be seen the overbridge carrying the
Metropolitan and ex-Great Central six tracked line into Baker Street and

Victoria From near to
the barrier of Platforms 14 /15, a train from Tunbridge Wells West has just arrived
at Victoria (Central Section) Station on Saturday, 13th May 1961. Unlike all
the other services into Victoria (Central Section) which were electrified
before World War 2, the Oxted line trains remained steam-worked into the
early sixties, often by 'imported' LMS-type and BR Standard classes. BR
Standard 4MT no. 80148 was built at Brighton 29th November 1956 only
